The Canon MF4570dn class ($ 299 direct) falls into the category of generally dull mono laser MFP. But it is also one of the rare examples of an item that puts together all the right functions in the right way to be a clear winner. MF4570DN Which in turn makes it more than a little interesting, with a high-speed stability, the wealth of the MFP functions, and that the price rise over the crowd. Also, the weakest job somewhat below par text quality is still easy enough higher quality business documents. And all this makes the printer an easy choice as the Editors’ Option.

MF4570DN

The MF4570dn is a bit large to an office to share, but still fairly compact at 14.6 by 15.4 per 16.six inch (HWD), generating it easy to find space for the typical micro relatively busy home office or workplace is for. MF4570DN As the Brother MFC-7840W ($ 300, 4 stars), which was the previous Editors’ option in this category, it can print, scan and fax, even over a network, scan to e-mail through an e-mail a PC program, and works as a standalone copier and fax. An additional welcome touch, the 35-page automatic document feeder for scanning multiple paperwork, and legal-size pages, which are also great for flatbed.

Canon ImageClass MF4570DN Review

Paper handling is a bit limited in that you will not find options for extra trays. Still, the printer offers all of the most import or micro home offices need, with a 250-sheet main tray and a 1-sheet manual tray. MF4570DN It also includes a built in duplexer for printing on each side of a page.

Speed

Set up was standard fare. I paired the MF4570dn on a network and uses a Windows Vista program for my exams. One of the more pleasant surprises was the speed. MF4570DN The printer is rated at 26 pages per time (ppm), which should be close to the speed you will see a text file with no graphics or pictures. Much more important, about our business applications suite (using QualityLogic’s hardware and software for timing), but came to 12.three ppm effective, generating the fastest mono laser MFP in its price range that we have examined, and even faster than some more expensive printers.

To obtain a sense of how fast this is, consider that the MFC-7840W was only eight.2 ppm. Even the more expensive Editors’ Brother MFC-8480DN Option ($ 400, 4 stars) managed only 10.6 ppm. The current rate for the second place prize for that class or go to the HP LaserJet M1212nf MFP Pro ($ 199, three.five stars) that I reviewed in mid 2010, with a rate of 11.three ppm

Print

MF4570dn is the closest to having a weakness is the output of high quality, which is really a bit below par for the text. Fortunately, a touch below par on a mono laser gain is fairly high quality. MF4570DN You would not want the printer to use for serious desktop publishing, but unless you have an unusual need for small fonts, change the text to find more than acceptable.

Canon MF4570DN

Graphical output is a competition for the vast majority of mono laser MFPs, and simple enough for just about any internal business need. MF4570DN Photo output is dead on par, generating the suitable for printing web pages with recognizable photographs or print images in client newsletters and the like.

So to be clear, the MF4570dn provides a far too happy and not complain. The combination of high speed, many MFP functions, ample paper handling, and quality of output tends to be a great match for almost any small job. Most essential, it will be difficult to better finish for the price, or, to put it another way: For a minimum of time, the MF4570dn the house and small workshop mono laser MFP that other people will have to beat .

MF4570DN We got this machine to replaced our Canon MF4570DN that we had for about 4 years, and finally sucame to the dreaded “download standby” error. We use all functions of the machine, both this one and the MF4570DN which it replaced.

We are a small medical research clinic, and the machines usually gets about 50 pages on average sent to them either from a print job or a fax. Many days it will be quite a bit more. Canon imageclass mf4570dn We also fax jobs out a few times a day. Canon mf4570dn The new machine is a definite upgrades in many ways, and a downgrade in one critical way (though how critical will very per person).

So what’s great about this machine?
- Duplexing: Works great and is speedy. It also duplexes faxes and print jobs.
- Networking: Once set up correctly you can print to this printer from anywhere, and scan from the computer or from the machine to a computer on your network.
- Speed: Print jobs are fast.
- Paper tray: Holds plenty of paper and the translucent cover lets you see when you are running low.
- Size: Its about half the size of the printer it replaced, and yet its still faster, and does more.
- Scanning: The included software is a breeze to use, and the ability to initiate scanning from the machine or the computer is ideal. MF4570DN Before only the one computer attached to the machine could scan, but now all the computers in the clinic can scan. This is a huge time saver for us.
- Energy Saver Mode: Works great, and wakes up super fast from this mode so no waiting to print or fax or copy but you still save energy.

So whats not so great about this machine?
- Text quality: The text printed from the machine is just a bit not right. I mean, most people will not notice is, but the MF4570DN REVIEW had superb text rendering, and this machine just doesn’t. Its completely passable, and like I mentioned most people would not even notice. MF4570DN Its too sharp, and not smooth, is the real way to describe it. Some people might even prefer the extra sharpness, but I sure didn’t, and neither did the PCMag editors.
- Buttons: The buttons are like tictacs in shape and sort of hollow, and are not great on the fingers, and sort of small. The layout is also a little weird. MF4570DN The menu okay button is a big round circle and I keep hitting it instead of the button i actually mean to hit, the green ok button for initiating an actual activity.
- Noise: Its very quiet when not in use, but maybe a tad too loud when in use. However its fast so its not noisy for very long.

Some other things. I’ve seen it asked many places to let me just clear it up here. This machine will provide a confirmation page for faxes and include an image of the fax facesheet. MF4570DN It is not located under the fax settings but under the reports setting. MF4570DN You just need to go to reports–>fax tx–>print report with image after each transmission–>yes/on. If you set the machines up correctly, you can have it so that the machines scans a file and attaches it right to an email with the push of one button. MF4570DN Love this feature as we often have to email scanned documents.

This machine got the editor’s choice award from PC mag, and rightly so. MF4570DN For the price you get an incredibly versatile, speedy, machine that doesn’t take up much space and can handle the work load of a small office with ease. MF4570DN You just can’t beat that
